I'm finding it a remarkable study of the Left as the Dems divide their political loyalties along whether to vote for the women or the black man. The whole squabble is quite a revelation.
I have to give credit to Hillary for her foresight when some months ago she called for us all to have a chat with her. This was a sly attempt to pull the professional chatters, Oprah and The View ladies, into her court. I can only imagine her fury now as Oprah has hitched her wagon to Obama and The View ladies may be getting aboard the same cart.
The strange truth is that real bigotry is the hallmark of the Left rather than of the Right as we have long been misled to believe. This should be perfectly obvious by the open discussions they have over whether it's time for a black man or a woman of any shade to lead the country. Real qualifications do not enter into Leftist conversation. Only skin tone and sexual equipment are relevant.
Back when I said that it was inevitable that Hil or Barack would be the Democrat nominee for the Presidency I did not know which of them it would be. I'm beginning to see now that racism is going to overcome sexism in this battle of the bigots. I should have guessed this, I suppose, after what happened at OJ's criminal trial. The fact that OJ was a known wife abuser led the chief prosecutor to the conclusion that loading the jury with women would help to bring a guilty verdict. But the defense strategy was better. They had no problem with Marcia Clark's selection of women to the jury so long as they were black women. Skin color trumps sexual identity every time.
I don't want that to sound like I'm bad-mouthing Oprah. I have genuine respect for her. Maybe she just sees through Hillary for the mutt that she is, I hope that's the case. But the problem of prejudice is certain. Oprah is going to stand with the black candidate and she would be being dishonest with herself if she denied that the fact of his blackness was not part of her decision to do so. That just makes her human like me and everyone else.
In the Democratic party bigotry is on trial again. But this time there is no chance for bigotry to lose. You may vote as a sexist or as a racist but bigotry is guaranteed to win.
